The best social responsibility projects were selected within the scope of the GLB 300 Societal Impact course at Abdullah Gül University, where solutions to global problems are discussed and addressed.
33 groups that developed projects in the fields of contribution to society and social responsibility within the scope of the course presented their projects using posters at the Project Fair opened in the Exhibition Hall. Filiz Koltuk from the Kayseri Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate and Sami Çapacıoğlu from the Kocasinan Municipality participated in the fair as jury members.
After the poster presentations, the Project Fair continued with a panel held in the Rectorate Conference Hall. Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz, who made the opening speech of the panel, stated that the issue of Sustainability has now become extremely important all over the world and said, “We are also a university, a home of science. Therefore, when we established this university, we acted visionarily by foreseeing that the issue of sustainability would become much more important from the very beginning and designed the GLB courses where these global problems are addressed.”
Participating in the panel as a jury, Gökhan Türkbey Kuloğlu and İlker Küçükdemirci from the Turkish National Agency, Miraç Büyüktürk from the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, and Faik Yılmaz from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) also took part as speakers in the first session of the panel. In this session, volunteering, projects, the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals, and exchange programs were discussed within the context of the Turkish National Agency and UNHCR.
In the second session of the panel, three students from our University who had the opportunity to participate in the ESC mobilities offered by the Gençlik Fabrikası shared their experiences during the process and their advice to young people who want to participate in the programs.
At the end of the panel, the best 3 projects voted by the jury were determined and their awards were presented.
