Emirhan Oğuztürk:
During my Erasmus+ mobility, I had the unique opportunity to take part in a project in Íllora, a small town in the province of Granada, Spain. The project was focused on supporting primary school education, and I worked as a teaching assistant for 1st and 2nd grade students at a local elementary school.
At first, I mostly observed classes and assisted the English teacher. Over time, my role expanded, and I began leading English songs in class, which the children loved. I also helped them with their math problems. This interaction encouraged me to learn some Spanish, especially to better understand and support the students.
The children always called me “maestro,” which means teacher in Spanish. That small gesture made me feel respected and appreciated. As we grew more comfortable with one another, they became curious and constantly asked me questions. From the second week onward, we played traditional Spanish children's games during lunch breaks. Sometimes, I joined their Physical Education classes and played football with them—these were fun and memorable moments for both them and me.
This Erasmus+ experience was truly incredible for me. Spending time with children, learning about other cultures, improving my Spanish, and traveling to new places made this one of the most meaningful periods of my life. I am deeply grateful for the experiences and friendships I made during these unforgettable two months.
