On 08 May 2026, the “Disability in Disasters Workshop” held at Kadir Has Congress Center brought together public institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations, and associations for individuals with disabilities on a common platform. At the end of the workshop, where significant decisions were made for a comprehensive disaster management model covering seven disability groups for the first time in Türkiye, a strong foundation was established for the “Kayseri Inclusive Disaster Management Roadmap.”
Organized under the auspices of the Kayseri Governorship and coordinated by Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, the program included active contributions from representatives of the Kayseri Provincial Health Directorate, Kayseri Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Kayseri Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD), Kayseri Provincial Directorate of National Education, Kayseri City Council, Kayseri Provincial Police Department, Kayseri Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Kayseri Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Social Security Institution (SGK), Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), district municipalities, JAK, ANDA, İHH, Türkuaz, YESEVİ, Gökbörü, Türk Telekom, MEB AKUB, Turkish Red Crescent, Highways Administration, Mukhtars Association, Association of Martyrs and Veterans, and disability associations.
Within the scope of the program aimed at developing a disaster and emergency safety model for individuals with disabilities, Abdullah Gül University, Erciyes University, Kayseri University, Nuh Naci Yazgan University, and Kapadokya University took part in the “Kayseri Disability in Disasters Workshop” as academic stakeholders. Academic and administrative staff, as well as university students, attended the workshop on behalf of our University.
